Noah and I decided that this year we would make a very different New Years' Resolution than we ever had before. Yes, like everyone else we are going on diets because of the toll the holidays have taken on physiques, but that is not our resolution. We have decide that this year we will strive to be more creative! We want to shift ourselves towards creating more than consuming.
Christmas was actually a great start for us! We had no money to buy gifts this year so we decided to make gifts rather than not give at all. By doing this we were actually able to give to more people than we ever have in the past and it was so much more rewarding to see people really love something that you've made especially for them! This year we made candles. We went to Goodwill's, Salvation Army's, and every thrift store possible buying up unique tins. I got soy wax and wicks at an affordable price online and learned how to make them here: http://www.designspongeonline.com/2010/11/diy-project-ashleys-vintage-tin-candles.html
This website has become one of my favorites as far as inspiring creativity.
For Christmas, Noah bought me a book on how to make my own journals. It teaches you different bindings and gives many ideas for materials to use for different looks. I already created one:
The binding isn't technically correct and the materials I used were not quite what they recommended, but it inspired me to CREATE!
I am loving this journey and I am going to try to begin posting my creations as I can and I hope you will share yours as well. Let's inspire each other to live creatively!

Neat idea, Emily. My niece didn't have $ for gifts but she created the most beautiful earrings... Do you remember Elyse Stephan? She has challenged folks to create for others on FB. I'll try to find it and forward it to you...
